Spring Break full of action!

This Spring break started out with not a lot planned out to do and ended up being an action packed week. Sunday we flew into Evansville and visited with Papaw and Grammy (Memaw). I only planned staying a couple of days. We managed our routine Eville activities a GattiTown and PumpItUP visit. Grammy and I did some shopping for a bedroom she is redecorating. Wednesday we heading back to the big D.
Friday morning I grabbed our activities backpack and several books and headed to Starbucks for a surprise soy hot cocoa and reading of books. Later on, we met up with our very sweet friend Ms. Alyssa. The kids love going to the stables and visiting her horse, Bo. There was a trainer out working with some horses and offered to take the kids for a ride, Elise being the stand-offish girl of unfamiliar men, politely declined the ride but Graeson only had to be asked a couple of times and he was raring to go! The kids deeply desire a horse of their very own and we like the idea but not sure if now is good time financially speaking. So we can dream...

Saturday morning we left the house aim-less to what to do with our morning, just knowing that Daddy had been working all week missing all the fun and wanted to do something special with the kids too. We made a stop at the yeast nugget shop (donuts) and started rolling through neighborhoods looking for garage sales for mommy's sake. :) We ended up getting a call from a co-worker of Jeff's who lives out on 600 acres of land with a private grass landing field. You can see their property on their website, http://Akroville.com. Their house is a customized metal building that is mostly a hangar and a house. They are competitive aerobatic pilots, check out their website http://www.jtairshow.com. They house about 9 aircraft at their house/hangar. When Tony asked Jeff if he want to head up for the afternoon, we said, "YES"! I just wished I had the fore thought to have a camera but we had no idea that we'd end up out at Tony and Julia's. We got to peruse their aircraft and the kids got to sit and touch them all. When we rolled up to their ranch they were critiquing a fellow pilot on his aerobatic maneuvers. We sat outside, enjoyed the private airshow in the absolutely perfect spring weather. Not bad for Dad wanting to do something special with the kids during Spring Break, ehh?
So I was pleased that we didn't spend a ton of money or go anywhere exotic for Spring Break but we sure had a good week and the kids got to do some special stuff. Thanks so much to friends and family.
